Enquiring Minds to get Fuelled Organically

Vaughan’s new Planet Organic Market will support the Toronto Waldorf School, a local not-for profit pre-Kindergarten to grade 12 school, with its annual fundraising drive via their expanded Grocery Gift Card Program.

The goal is to help them raise at least $2,500 each year, which will help strengthen the school’s ability to provide a high quality Waldorf education to all families, regardless of economic means.

Toronto Waldorf School, located at 9100 Bathurst Street in Thornhill, is part of a global community of teachers and child development professionals. This unique school is dedicated to providing an educational experience that inspires students to evolve into creative thinkers who are personally centered and strongly connected to humanity and the environment.

Planet Organic Markets, part of a group of Canadian-born organic grocery stores, has values around wellness and nutrition that are compatible with Waldorf education. They are excited to partner with an institution that promotes the healthy physical development of children through fresh, tasty, and nutritious foods.

The Grocery Gift Card program is easy. People sign up for a monthly withdrawal in an amount of their choice and receive a gift card to use at the store. Planet Organic Market donates five per cent of the value of the gift card directly to the school.

The Vaughan store, located at 8020 Bathurst Street, opened in the spring of 2008 and is the third Ontario location for this growing Canadian company, which now has ten stores across Canada, including Markham and Port Credit.

Earlier this year, Corporate Knights magazine ranked Planet Organic Markets number one in Canada in its Green Grocer survey. Planet Organic achieved an overall “A” grade and outranked all national grocery chains for their excellent track record in stocking a wide variety of organic, fair-trade and environmentally-friendly products as well as integrating consumer education and sustainability into its operations.
